With a varied audience of aspiring writers and avid readers from all ranges, with a focus on teen and young adults, the “Emma Maree Reviews…” feature of this site is a brilliant outlet for authors and publishers wanting to alert bright young readers of their work.
As well as reviews of work, I will also host blog tours, giveaways and interview authors upon request.
What I like: I will review books for any age range and audience, and take the target audience into consideration when reviewing, I will review comic and graphic novels, fantasy (including all sub-genres, e.g. urban and steampunk), science fiction, horror, supernatural, mysteries, thrillers, middle grade fiction and young adult fiction,. Chick-lit, romance, humor, poetry and biographies are less common but are also accepted.
What I don’t like: I generally do not review non-fiction or self-help publications outside of my interests (writing and drawing books are accepted). I also don’t review religious fiction or non-fiction, political writing or erotica.
Do I accept e-books? Yes.
Do I accept self published/indie books? Not at present.
What response can you expect? My acceptance of a review copy does not guarantee that I will write a review.
While I will aim to select books I think I will enjoy, this blog is focused on the writing craft and as such will contain honest critique of supplied work. All reviews will be balanced, including criticism where due, but when I can only leave a severely negative review I will usually avoid reviewing that work out of respect to the suppliers.
I always include book cover, link to author website, publishing house, release date, synopsis, and a balanced review of the content. A link to purchase will be supplied when possible.
Reviews may be shared to Goodreads (and sometimes Librarything). I can share them to other sites, like Amazon, should you request it.
Review Time Frame: I read as much and as quickly as I can – however, personal situations will affect the timescale.
If the book is an ARC, I will try to review the book in the month surrounding its release date – ideally in the week of release. Please have the copy delivered at least 4 weeks in advance to allow for this.
If the book is published, it may take up to a few months to review it.
Virtual book tour reviews will be posted on the scheduled day.
All posts are also shared via Facebook, RSS and Twitter for increased exposure.
