• Triss: A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born!

My laptop has crashed 3 times today, and it's the first day I've had it hooked up to the 'net. It just blacks out completely, like it's out of battery, but the battery life is always at max and it's plugged into the mains.
Gah, no idea what's wrong with it. Since my iPod and that are plugged in, I'm tempted to say it's with the USB, but only because that was an error on A360+. There's no way Advent should have that error.
Another quite possible reason is they bugggered up putting in the mainboard that was never really needed. Considering how retarded the PCSC folks are, I reckon it's pretty likely. RETARDED PPLS! ><

Dad's gonna ring them up again tomorrow, and likely they'll hold my precioussss hostage for even longer. Gah,  personally, I'd be more comfortable just requesting a new model - or at the least, a replacement 'till it's back. I'm sick of dealing with this, especially after they wiped off everything I valued about this laptop.

This is unbelievable frustrating. I was doing fantastically with the DT3 deadline, I thought I'd have it done by the end of January... and now it's been at a halt for more than a month. I'm so pissed, at myself more than anything, 'cos I'm like that. Feels like I'm letting down the DT readers - felt like that last year too, when I only got one book released. I hate the time people have to wait to read it, and this year I thought I'd be able to overcome that. *sigh*

Bleh. Dad phoned up PCSC, and since we're showing up so freaking often (OH NOES ONE TIME CUSTOMERS OH NOES!) we have to go see the manger. Which personalyl I find retarded, since they're the ones who broke my dear Accy, but meh... if it'll get us a replacement.

My uncle reckons it's because they've used the old OS. Pwned.

In other news, iZ being hit majorly by virii (trojans mainly), malware, spyware, etcrappycetea. Any recommendations for good programs? I'm currently using Avast! and Spyware Doctor, and niether seem to be helping much.

Back to Accatel, took him to PC World, they're doing a good diagnostic so we should have the results by the end of the week. We actually got to talk to some decent people, the manager Gordon and Technician dude James. I love the PC World staff, they all have brains. I like that in a person. XD
But yeah, nice guys, specially James since my dad wae pretty ticked and was kinda sharp with him at the start. He took a good look at the machine, too, but I can't help but shake the feeling he reckons the problem with the laptop is this...

Blah. Got my laptop back on Friday, they reckon there's nothing wrong with it. Poppycock (*giggle*), really. This thing's running unbearably slow, and the commit charge is rocketing off the charts.
They recommended a RAM upgrade and some virus software udpates, but I've scanned and there's nothing suspciious, and 512MB is more than enough to run Windows XP, so screw that.
The commit charge is bugging me, though. Right now, running iTunes and Firefox, it's reading "314988K / 6195!", which I'm gathering isn't too good. But I've got no idea how to get it down. Bleh.
We'll probably be putting him back in on Monday and yelling 'till we get a replacement, because apparantly it was ridiculous to say there was nothing wrong with it. But I actually LIKE the PCWorld people, so I'm doing everything I can to avoid that. Bah, I'mma tired.

Apparantly, Acatel only has 256MB, which is barely even enough to run Windows well. O_o
Sad that I didn't realise it, but yah... apparantly, we shouldn't have been sold it, especially considering most even 40GB 'tops (Accatel = 60Gb) are being sold with 512MB.
So we're gonna get a RAM upgrade to 512MB for half-price, around £30, which still seems odd to be if the latop shouldn't even have been sold. o_O;; But meh, at least this time it's just an in-house thing and I should have him back in operation for tomorrow.

EDIT: Holyyyyyyy shiugahr... got Accy back like, 10 mins after he left. 1.2 GIG RAM, FTW!
I have no excuse for not doing book 3 now. Feel free to bug me about it.
