There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born! Cheesy

I started to write a book ages ago.  For fun not publishing.  TBH I have been thinking up the plot and characters since I was like 6.
i'm currently haveing writers block. >.< i cant think of a name for the main chariter.

I know you have a name now, but seventhsanctum.com is a godsend when it coems to times like that. There's a name generator which uses census data, that's my most used tool.

And yeah, I couldn't think of any names at all, so the two main girls were just 'Emma' and 'Maree' for a brief moment of filler. I am so imaginative. Ellen came round pretty quickly, but Maree stuck.

I'm OK when it comes to names. The main characters for the books I've written, am writing, have on the back-burner or planning are so far: Charra, Josiah, Michael, Karin, Kate and Daisuke.

Question for Emma: you now have a sort of over-arching multiverse over the books you are writing and planning. I was wondering, at what point did it occur to you to do that? Just because now I have a theme running through what I'm planning, which will get a mention in everything I write which is part of this tie-in and will eventually end in a book that tiess up all the mysteries of the others in one huge kick-ass finale. Ambitious, but I might be able to pull it off. xD

I don't even know. xD It's just like... all these stories occur in their own little 'mental multiverse' in your head, and when writing them you enjoy putting in references to other 'worlds' and imagining the characters meeting, so before you know it you're creating this intricate world that links sensibly. That and I enjoy imagining people being able to spot references and link stories.

It's really hard to explain where it began... I think it just came along with thinking up these different worlds, how they came about and how they work. Once you create these worlds, you sort of... understand how it happens, and everything you've already done sort of fits in.

I really can't explain it. Some things just seem meant to be, and certain books seem meant to link, or go in certain routes, or link to certain characters. Writing seems to evolve like that - most writers with complex plot twists and universes only figure out most of it as they get there, it's almost a sentient thing sometimes.

Being of Solipsist tendencies, I often consider whether things were 'meant' to happen (and sort of that I meant to take them there, ubt wasn't consciously aware of it), and too often with writing it seems that, yes, it was meant to end up like this all along, you just didn't know it.

And I think this is the first time I've actually admitted that, heh.

hows the new book coming along Emma?

It's going alright. I was having a period where I didn't have the confidence in my work to do it, and plus I was swamped with financial worries, job hunting and lack of stress, but at the edge of sleep I just focussed on properly, realistic pictures characters and settings and interacting with them a little, and it encouraged me enough to get back into it.

So I'm doing okay. I have skeletal blonde pretty-boy pricks to nudge me into working at 2am when I have to get up for my first shift at 6-8am. xD
