  • Triss: A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born! Cheesy

can we be the people who walk in the background?  We would only get like 5 seconds on screen so it would be hard to ruin it even if wr tried.

lol xD

Like I said in the shoutbox, nothing's been finalized (but I was told I could say this much, and it seems at the moment to be sort of.... inevitable, if that doesn't sound cocky) so there's not much I can say, and even when it is I won't be able to go on about money and whatnot. Tongue

But yeah, it's a film deal. They get the rights to make a movie, but when the movie is made and how is up to the company to decide. Could be immediately, could be years - but I'm hoping not for immediately so I can rewrite the books first. My agent is well aware I would like some control over it, though, so I'm reasonable confident I'll have involvement in it when it does happen.

Thanks Ben and MSB.  Smiley

Since I have had questions about casting a lot, I have some ideas on it - my intentions are, if I'm given the opportunity, to try and arrange for local auditions instead of in Los Angeles or something, so I can direct the local talent it's way and give everyone who's willing a chance to be in it. That method feels... proper, I guess, since people may need to travel there and those who go will need to be pretty brave, and both strong spirit and willingness to go to all lengths (metaphorically or literally) to get a position are strong definers of acting in my mind.

Impractical, I guess, but if needbe (and since the cast is global, it probably would be) it could be combined with auditions around bigger cities.

you should re write the books first and have some people from some countries(like say Maree could be from Scotland) and have someone from Scotland playing her.  That way you would have less chance of her either having the wrong accent or a bad attempt at a scottish accent.

Maree = American, Canadian, Australian, anywhere outside of Europe with high wealth and tourism really.
Ellen = Highlands of Scotland.
Alex = Forced English accent and drawl that occasionally slips into French accentuation.
Ceirin = English accent but an American vocabulary and speech style.
Muvo = Old movie/gangsta American growl.
