• karo: I've been busy doing this Summer School for Access to Uni thing.  For the past week or two I have had at least one big essay per week(by big I mean 1500 words, so not massive but still a fair bit for a weekly essay) got one due Monday this week and another due Friday

• Triss: A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born!

Yo ho me hearties, Jack's back and it's not for Dead Man's Chest... yet. The general RP rules have been posted, and I expect you to follow them. Else you'll walk the plank. And Elizabeth's burnt all the rum, so there's no fun to had on my island, savvy?

Gah, I have no idea what kind of character to use for a pirate RP. I'll try and think of somone. If I decide to go with a canon character, I might go with Will. Will was fun. I just need to make sure I cna trust myself not to make him fall madly in love with Jack. XD

EDIT: Haha! I thought of a guy! Intro paragraph for him follows, because they generally show personality better than just description.

This is Sylvestor. He's a fan character with a stupid name. XD He wants to be a pirate, for the money. Because of his aims, he will fail miserably at doing so.))

Hands cushioning his head, Sy leant back against a post, staring down the dock towards the horizon. Seeing nothing but the clear blue sea and matching sky, he shut his eyes, willing something else to appear. Something brushed against his side, and he frowned, opening his eyes and glaring down at the cat rubbing against his side.
"I thought you were asleep," he muttered.
Purrr-rrrr-rrrr-rrrr-rrr-rrr-rrr-rrrr!
"I thought I'd be able to get some too."
Rrrrr-rrrrr-rrr-rr-rrr-rrrr-rrrr-rrrr!
"Heavens above. The least you could do is do something useful. Like... I don't know, catch the tea. Or throw yourself off the peer. Whichever works for you," Sy muttered. "It's going to get freezing when night falls."
Just behind him, there was the soft sound of claws digging into wood, and the cat scaled the beam, pausing to check the view from the top, before leaping down and settling on his hair.
"That really won't be much help."

((i hereby claim Mad Morgan Bonney, mainly because Jack was already taken...she is Anamaria (the one lady-pirate on the Black Pearl, however Jack STILL owes her a ship on account of "borrowing-her-last-one-without-permission-and-not-bringing-it-back")'s sister (in this roleplay, in reality she's um...me really) however Anamaria still takes orders from Captain Jack because, well I don't now. Morgan takes orders from Jack because its fun, he's really easy for her to drink under the table (come on, even Elizabeth managed it, cant be THAT hard!) and well, she fancies him a bit kay? i'll admit it))

Morgan half-marched along the pier with the casual air of one who knows that anyone who attemtps to stop them will be finding themselves with something very sharp in close contact with very sensitive parts of themselves. she had taken on the role of "general scout" for the evening and was checking along the line of boats looking for anything that was worth pillaging or (nautical term) commandeering. she was about to join the others in the bar when she noticed a young man sleeping by the peir side...looking suspiously like he was considering attempting to comandeer THEIR ship.

Silently she crouched behind the post he was leaning against, drawing her tiny dagger and saying what was on her mind at that particular moment:

"WHO-ARE-YOU,-WHAT-ARE-YOU-DOING,-WHAT-ARE-YOUR-INTENTIONS,-I-HAVE-A-KNIFE-HERE-AND-I'M-NOT-AFRAID-TO-USE-IT!!!! YOU-LOOK-FAMILIER,-HAVE-I-THREATENED-YOU-BEFORE?"

Sy started, and his cat leapt from his lap, tail arching out, making a dash for the end of the pier and glaring at the newcomer from the end of it. Muttering curses as he tried to casually brush cat hair from his trousers, Sy shifted awkwardly, glancing around the post at the woman crouching behind it.
"I know I'm not a pirate," he said, adding mentally, "yet". "And I'm not attempting to hold up an innocent cabin boy with a tiny dagger. My intentions were to sleep, that's not a knife it's a poor excuse for a needle, and you must be mistaken because I've never seen you before in my life."
Trying to resist the urge to laugh, and keeping firmly in mind that this was a priate, and she was indeed armed, Sy got to his feet and took a few steps back from the post. Wait, rethink this. This is a female pirate. How many ships around here have a female in the crew?
He smirked. Probably the same kind of ship that would ask you if you had a girlfriend. A ship who's captain would send a reply to your resume, if you said no, reading "then you really hadn't lived, mate".
"Uhm, I'm here looking for a job," Sy said awkwardly, trying to cover up for his previous remark incase this really was who he suspected. "I...uh... I'm wanting a job on the waves, as it is. On a ship. I broguht a cat and everything, to... uhm... stop the piece from taking the food, you know?"

well, he wasn't a local boy, Morgan knew that. if he was from Tortuga there would have been two things different about him...1:he wouldn't have stood up yet, you need two buckets of water to wake a proper Tortugan, and 2: he'd have been drunk. he was a bit scrawny as well and the bright-eyed look of someone who has the feeling the 'he knows where this is headed'

"say what ye want about me, boy, but DON'T insult...the knife...."she said carefully. "ye say ye wants a job on the waves...."she looked him up and down before carefully re-concealing her knife. "I think ye'd better come wi' me." she turned and began to walk away before turning back around sharply "And ye'd be well tae remember that i do know ladies who can kill wi' a needle, even if t'is a poor excuse for one..."

"Oh, do tell," Sy murmered, one eyebrow raised disbelieving at the whole affair. He shrugged, clicking his tounge to call his cat to follow. The moggy paused, doing an accurate impression of it's masters disbelieving look, but followed before he was out of sight.

ignoring his last comment, Morgan waited for this random guy to catch up and then walked with him in front of her. People got suspicios in Tortuga when ladies led men, it often ment they were about to be robbed...

she led him into a bar and quickly spotted thye rest of the crew. Captain jack appeared to be using his bottle to conduct the singing. Anamaria was "relieving" a drunk man of his possessions, and the rest of the crew were either songing or making sure they were not "unwanted". she carefully pushed the boy ahead of her in the crowd and sat him firmly at the table. all the pirates were too drunk to notice, aqnd she joined in a rallying chorus of A Pirates life. they could talk to the captain when he was slightly less drunk, right now, she had to test this new guy's liver.

Looking alarmed at having to walk in front of the woman with a tiny knife, and further alarmed at getting led into a bar full of pirates, Sy took a seat on the table, taking care to perch on the edge of his seat. His cat had abandoned at the door, the git.
He examined the pirates uneasily, trying to figure out how much booze it must have taken to bring these beasts down. His gaze froze on the dreadlocked, tanned young man, before he ducked down his head and absorbed in the intricate scratches and hook marks in the table.
Oh dear lord. Captain Jack? THE Captain Jack Sparrow? Here? In the middle of Tortuga? Sitting less than a metre away?
...What was it they said about this guy? "Stay as far away from him as possible" or something, wasn't it? Because this guy brings chaos with him wherever he is... which meant that something would go down in the bar soon, just because he was here. It had to. And he would be right there, watching it. Real pirate action.
He smiled slightly, as the woman who'd brought him here burst into a defeaning chorus of "A Pirate's Life". Real pirates. Right here. Finally.
"Uhm, excuse me," he said, after the dsinging had died down. "I don't think I actually introduced myself... and I'm rather curious as to who you are, and how you became accquainted with Mr Captain Jack."

[Nick]

"You tell me your name an' I'll give you mine, sweetie," said Morgan, knocking back her bottle for a proper swig. "at least you've called him 'Captain'. he's bound to like you now. but don't call him 'Mister'. he's Captain Jack Sparrow, and don't you forget it. THE captain jack sparrow, who escaped marooning twice, who escaped from under the eyes of Commadore Norington and a whole troop of royal guards...."she pointed as Jack slid off his seat and hit the ground running, which is quite a feat in itself, before getting up and singing the chorus at full blast. "that's who he is. how i came to sail on his ship is of no concern of yours"

Sy blushed at the request, before forcing himself to stammer, "It's... Sylvestor. But just call me Sy. Please. Just Sy."
He paused, feeling awkward without some kind of drink on his person, and pondering whether to get something out of his bag.

[Nick]

Morgan pressed a bottle into his hand. she didn't know what was in it, but he needed something. "I am Morgan. Morgan Bonney if you must know. Mad Morgan BOnney if you're still interested. drink, my friend, drink. you won't last long if you don't drink. and shout YO HO! whenever it feels right, you'll pick up the words in a bit. and don't let anyone near you, they'll steal stuff. and do you have a weapon? you need one"

Mad Morgan Bonny... Sy's mind echoed. Where does the 'Mad' part come from, I wonder?
"Uhm, I do. Sort of..." he said, swinging round his bag and, with the slightest glimmer of pride, pulling out a slingshot. It was worn and battered looking, like it had seen a good few battles head-on instead of firing it's cargo at them from afar as nature intended, but the elastics and leather all looked functional eonugh. "It... heh, it doesn't look like much, but it comes in handy. Hardly a sword, mind, but I kind of prefer fightng from a bit of. I'm no godo with melee fighting.
"Not much of a fighter, not much of a pirate." Laughing, he took the offered bottle and trook a long swig, half drowning as he realised mid-gulp what a throat-burning tonic it was.

Morgan stared in horror at the weapon. "it's....alright i supose" she said. "but you must learn to do clse in fighting...there's no room to run on a ship, or most islands for that matter. you can have..." she reached down the front of her tattered blouse and pulled out a knife that really shouldn't have managed to fit, "this knife" she held it out to him as chairs started to fly around behind them.

Taking the offered knife, Syrus blushed, staring at her blouse and wondering how he's hidden it in there, then going a vivid crimson as he realised he was staring at a ladie's blouse and that definately was not on.
Quickly examing the knife, he smiled, and made the mistake of testing it's sharpness with his finger. Wincing, he slipped the hand away into his pocket and drank again to hide his mounting embarassment.

Morgan snorted into her bottle as inside she almost died laughing. she grabbed his arm dragging him onto his feet, then lept onto the table where a lot of pirates were actually dancing. She leaned down and tried very hard to pull him up after her, but lost her balance and fell backwards into jack, who simply moved and didn't take much notice as she fell over the back of the table.
