  • Triss: A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born! Cheesy

RIGHT! My Windows Media Player DOES NOT WORK!

AT ALL!

it can play a grand total of ONE song before it goes into melt down and dies...

WHAT DO I DO?!

Do I need to install a new version or what? I can't seem to delete the version I have, even though it doesn't work...

I've been on to the web sites that are meant to help but they all say stuff like "Common Problems include being unable to playback CDs" and I'm all "Well, it can't play anything so *clicks*" and then it's all "Step1: Insert CD. Step2: Press Play" and I'm all "OK, I know HOW to do it, it just won't do it!"

Gah.

please help...

Step One: Don't use Windows Media Player. Tongue

Try alternatives. WinAmp, iTunes, anything else you can use?

Seriously though, I have no love for Windows Media Player, so I can't help with it.

Well you see, I've been perfectly happy without it for several months and have been getting my music by putting youtube on playlists but you see um...my sister is in America and therefore everything is cheap...and so now I owe her £60 for a 20GB creative Zen

and I need something to sync with it when it arrives and she said Media Player would do it but my one doesn't work...

I have realplayer but it can't rip CDs which is what I want and I have PowerCinema....

(I know, I suck)

maybe un-staling it and re-installing will help.  It is probably a virus so throughly virus scan and ad-wear(is that how it is spelt) scan and remember viruses don't want to be caught and so the newest ones can hide.  To sort this get a newer update(unless you have one) and scan again(unless u already have with the new one) and just to make sure scan all the files and programs as well(this can be done but I have forgotten how).  Also explore your computer and delete any files that have names or file names like 927438724723 because they are viruses.

Fourthed, that's definately not wise. My camera names photos by the dates they were captured, so you end up with names like that. Tongue But seriously, even if you do come across a file you think contains a virus, the most important parts of a virus will be far more hidden inside the computer system (I'm talking about the kind you need to use DOS to get rid of), the best thing you can do is leave the removal process to your virus scanner.

Also, I agree with Ben. F1 and Troubleshooting ftw.

20GB creative Zen

You got all the box etc. with the Zen, right? So it should include firmware and software to make syncing very easy, install and use that. If you can't get ahold of it, get it here.
