  • Triss: A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born! Cheesy

Maybe he's talking about the names given to them ie. B clef, C clef, G clef, D clef respectively I THINK. I don't know for sure... But the note they are named after is in the middle.

I'm vaguely following. I think that's where the symbols came from - stylised characters of the note they sit on?

I would however like to point out that while youy can just about make out a G in the treble clef...

There's no way in Hell that this is a C!

And I just remembered that is they were named for the central line the trebel would be B clef wouldn't it?

I'm so confused....

No, it can't be the middle line....maybe the one directly below it? I don't know, I'll check it up. To be honest, that looks like a B to me...

It looks to me like you've got a C, then a reflection of the C... like when you'd practice symmetry by putting a mirror to a shape. If you took away the 'reflection', you have a shape sort of like a C.

The treble clef is in the shape of an old G.  Not the one we have now.

Anyway this explanes a bit about the Alto Clef.

A staff of five lines connected at the left end by a symbol; this symbol contains an arrow which points to the third line, indicating that that line is middle C (c1). This clef is sometimes used for the notation of the alto part because it facilitates the printing of the part with minimal use of ledger lines. It is also known as the viola clef as the viola is the only instrument that uses it with consistent regularity. It can also be found to some degree in the music of the English horn, trombone and bassoon.

the red line is the middle c.

Is anyone here graded anyway?

been playing for 10 years.  Just started grading stuff just to see my level(out of pure interest and it would help if I was graded if I decided to teach guitar or become a music teacher).
