I've been busy doing this Summer School for Access to Uni thing. For the past week or two I have had at least one big essay per week(by big I mean 1500 words, so not massive but still a fair bit for a weekly essay) got one due Monday this week and another due Friday

A group of us from the LARP society I'm part of decided to put on a role-playing convention, catering to roleplayers of all types from tabletop to LARP, so we got in a whole load of traders and people promoting their groups and stuff. There's quite a big, active RP community in the north-east, so we thought we'd tap into that. So 'Nerd East' was born!

I know it was the end of the world. I figured that out by the fact that when it all links together time is about to be shreded by a massive bomb. Other than that we were still trying to work out exactly what it was and then it turned out to be the bay.
Yeah, but we found that out in Season 2.

1:09 onwards.
That's season 2, episode 13.

Or you could have figured it out by the Doctor explaining to Donna, in the Chinese-esque market, that Bad Wolf means "the end of the world". More specifically, I think the definition is it's something Rose placed across time and space... why I don't really remember, just to signal thing to come maybe?
Rose herself says:
Quote
I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself. I take the words. I scatter them ... in time, and space. A message to lead myself here.
Which is a sufficient explanation, but Wikipedia adds:
Quote
Describing herself as "see[ing] the whole of time and space", the extent of Rose's actions remains unclear
And more fun facts from the outdated but still awesome badwolf.org.uk -
Quote
In Norse mythology, the Bad Wolf was a god called Fenrir who would one day bring about the end of all things.
Educational, eh?
Quote
since we all know what the dr wants most is to settle down, grow old and die...
We do? I can consider him thinking that, but he seems to want to 'die in action' a lot more. I think he's aware he pretty much... can't, being the last of the timelords.
Aw, Sparky, THAT Doomsday clip cuts off the Doomsday theme. >: Favourite tune in the series, haha. And I can see why you prefer Rose to Donna - I'd be tempted to, I loved her episodes, but coupled with the occasional online rant from others about her 'Mary Sue'-ness, and her annoying dental surgery in the final episodes, I think it's safe to say I prefer Donna... she's a 'friend', not an unrequited (Martha) or requited (Rose) lover, and it's a refreshing change.

I stopped myself from coming here before I had watched the episode as I completely missed it... on TWO occasions. >
Gah
So now I have finished, I am full of dislike to be perfectly honest. Sure there was a massive amount of good parts in that episode but my mind was drawn towards everything bad. It pretty much started off well and ended badly. So towards the end:
I got really pissed off with Dalekhan. I mean OK we get the point! Someone is going to die! And the most cringe worthy line of the whole episode, most likely whole series, was "Someone will still die!" I mean seriously. It should have been suspenseful but they were trying to choke you with the thought that someone is still going to die. I really think at the end of that characters days he could have had a much better line. And it wasn't even true.
The pulling earth home thing annoyed me slightly. Seemed a bit childish in comparison to the rest of the episode, especially with things like Gwen holding onto a stand for support. Could have been done better.
But the part most filled full of HATE is Donna's ending. I absolutely HATE it when characters lose my memories. And I knew that she could not stay with the Doctor, so my initial thoughts on how it should end is that she should die. I know its horrible, especially as I LOVE Donna Noble. I agree with Emma, best side-kick ever. But really, she deserved a better ending. The doctor is dead to her, and all her memories and adventures along with it. In my mind they are just holding her in a bank waiting for some christmas spesh episode where she suddenly remembers again and the doctor manages to save her before she dies. Nuuu nu nu nu!!! It would have been a beautiful ending if what they had been hinting throughout the WHOLE series had actually happened. If she had looked out the window as the Doctor got into the Tardis, and in that moment had died as he flew away it would have been amazing. A horrible yet stunning ending where she remembers everything but the passion of those memories kills her, and the Doctor could never know. But they just left it.
Also a quick note that I disliked the second Doctor. Its just WRONG WRONG WRONG. Sure they explained it quite well, but it just never worked. Rose needed to be with the real doctor, not some makeshift spin-off.
Thats all my ranting over. And I totally understand that everyone has completely different views on this episode from me. I mean there were definitely some love moments, including most of Donna and Jack's lines. Along with the idea of Doctor's soul that I just thought was so clever. I mean I have never really looked at the idea that Mankind are always willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good. And it was brilliant the effect of everyone's deaths on the Doctor's soul.
Please feel free to tell me my opinions are all wrong. Cause I wish I could like this episode, and who knows maybe I will think about it and like it again. But right now I am filled with WRONG.

I know. But it is like she died because she had her memory wiped. The doctor will never be able to see her again. So to him she is dead.

Her memory wasn't wiped it was Locked, since the memories are still there she just can't access them hense why they'd be able to come back.
Well two episodes spring to mind, 1 being the eppisode where the dr says how brilliant the newly wed couple and their future is in season 1 *in the episode where rose saves her father in the past* and the Family Eppisode in season 3. Where he actually falls in love whilst Human and even intends to settle down with the matron or w/e and tries to deny the existence of his former life not wanting to give her and his life up.... She had to force him to more or else if i remember rightly.

The two-Doctor thing had the potential to go horribly wrong, but I think they pulled it off alright.
And so I think there's been I nice lot of closure to Doctor Who now they are going to take a year out. Rose is back in her parallel universe, but this time with the Doctor, and I do believe that he isn't a make-shift substitute - he really is the human Doctor, and the right one for Rose, since they are now able to have a proper relationship without any problems of Rose aging and the Doctor not and...uh....any possible species incompatibility....well, you never know...so we won't be seeing her again.
Poor Donna suffered the worst fate, and I agree with you Ben up to a point - I think it's the fact that her loss of memory and the impact it has on those around her, and the loss to her that she will never realise is an even more bitter end than her dying. I think it is deliberate, making her departure all the more painful for the Doctor and for the viewer, although it leaves open the possibility for a final swan song to save the day sometime in the future, maybe like how Jenny is still around (I actually thought Jenny would come back and save the day xD).
Martha and Mickey go off with Jack, so I assume they're going to be joining him in Torchwood. It's a shame, I really thought he and DoctorDonna might have had a chance - she seemed to have a crush on him, and we all know Jack has fancied the Doctor for a long time, perhaps hence his now-famous line, quoted again just cos it's awesome:
Quote
THERE'S THREE OF YOU? OH, YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW WHAT I'M THINKING.
And of course, as always, the Doctor is left alone, companionless. I admit that I cried a little at the end - the poor guy is always going to end up alone and broken-hearted. However maybe he'll be able to get over Rose after this. And he's got hope yet - there's still a future companion who will be the love of his life. Maybe he doesn't think he will ever be able to feel for her properly, since he already knows what will happen before he meets her for her first time. But she'll be there.

The show's lead character is currently portrayed by David Tennant. In the programme's most recent series, which ran from April 5 to July 5, 2008,[5] Catherine Tate played the Doctor's companion, reprising her role of Donna Noble from the 2006 Christmas special.[6] Another Christmas special will air in 2008, followed by four more specials in 2009; the next full series has been confirmed for airing in 2010.

Ooo, really? That's interesting, because I was beginning to wonder if Kahn was some kind of sci-fi in-joke. There's a Kahn in Star Trek and a Khan in Babylon 5 (although not sure how that one's spelt).
But yeah, I didn't know that.

I see the Doctor finally fixed the chameleon circuit on the TARDIS.

and having seen a whole heap of youtube comments saying Dalek Caan. It has led me to suspect that is how it is spelt.
I also checked Wikipedia

Cheers for the correction. xD I never get Doc Who names spelt right.
On the bitterness of Donna's ending - I think it was pretty well summed p in a moment I caught from Confidential, when Catherine was talking about how she's now "never realise her potential".
That bothered me just as much as forgetting her adventures... forgetting is one thing, never having the chance is another thing entirely. >: Poor Donna.
