Nick...there is no shame in being obsessed with Back To The Future. I am, incredibly so. ^^ And I agree, those are films where the song insert works well - I just get annoyed when a film uses about ten different songs and has no real soundtrack of its own, whereas Back To The Future has what is probably my favourite film theme ever (after Star Wars).

I have re-rediscovered (if that makes sense) another of my all-time most-loved film soundtracks. Even though I only actually own 2 of the songs. I need to start roaming the charity shops again for this one me-thinks.

The Lost Boys...the music is just so good! INXS, Echo and the Bunnymen, Roger Daltrey, Lou Gramm. It's so epicly 80's. That and the actual theme type thing (which is called 'Cry Little Sister') for it is pretty impressive (and reminds me of Billy Idol, but that's just me) but I can't seem to find any videos of it without MAJOR spoilers. Cursed people.
But for me the best song I've heard of out of it? 'Lost in the Shadows' by Lou Gramm (also known as 'You know, that guy, from Foreigner')
But I can't find the official music video for it - which sucks cause it's on the DVD and is hilariously, shamelessly tie-in with the film. Seriously, by the last few chorus repeats they do actually sing the title. But it's so gosh darn catchy. And I have managed to find the bit in the film that includes it. Probably my favorite musical bit from the whole thing actually. Especially as this sequence features just beforehand:

(Star and Micheal walk along together. The gang pull up)
David(mulleted-yet-still-effortlessly-cool): Star?
(It is not a question, it's a statement. Star stares fearfully yet angrily at him. He looks back at her expectantly. Micheal regards him in a challenging fashion. Star's look becomes apologetic and submissive. She glances at Micheal before moving to David's side. He grins and looks Micheal up and down as Star laces her arm around his neck and swings herself onto the back of his bike. Micheal loses his challenging air. The others snigger)
David: You know where Hudson's Bluff is, over-looking the point?
Micheal: (laughs once) I can't beat your bike...
David: (smiling) You don't have to beat me, Micheal. you just have to try and keep up. (He revs his bike)
Paul: (To Laddie) We're going for a ride...
And then this happens. How good is the music?! "Say hello to the night, Lost in the shadows, Say hello to the night, Lost in the loneliness, Say hello to the night, Lost in the Shadows, No one knows..." I think it especially fits when Star is looking back to Micheal and she's all back-lit. And then David's all ever-so-concentrating-yet-maintaining-coolness.

Actually I think that's probably one of my favorite scenes. Oh, apart from the end obviously. And all the bits in the vampire cave. Oh and the bit with "Initiation's over, Micheal. It's time to join the club *looms out of the darkness*" And the bit with "You're a creature of the night, Micheal! Just like out of a comic book! You're a vampire, Micheal! My own brother, a God-damn, shit-sucking vampire! Well, you wait till Mom finds out, buddy!" And anything involving the Frog Brothers. Because they just make that film -
Alan: We blew it, man, we lost it!
Edgar: Shut up!
Alan: We unraveled in the face of the enemy!
Edgar: It's not our fault, they pulled a mind scramble on us! They opened their eyes and talked!

The main point here being, 80s films make 80s music even better. Now if only someone would make Bon Jovi: The Musical.

Bon Iver and Sigur Ros.
Just bought an album by Joshua Radin. If anyone watches scrubs, you'll be bound to recognise some of the tracks from his first album. I absolutely love it.

Also been getting back into Brand New in preparation for seeing them live in Glasgow in June. v. excited.

I finally completed my Muse collection by buying HAARP. Watched the DVD the other day as well, which was fantastic.

Now just to wait for the fifth album...I'm looking forward to that 'symphonic monster'.

Aahaha! Johnny B. Goode. I love that song! Though of course in my head it's forevermore connected to Back to the Future...
Regardez: (even though the dialogue is in Italian - I do love that they didn't bother dubbing Micheal J Fox's singing voice!)

Right now, I'm having a bit of an Abba revival. There's just something about them and their mildly camp classics. I'm also reliably informed that I can borrow the DVD of Mamma Mia! (which I still preposterously haven't seen...) Particular favorites: 'Does your Mother Know?' 'S.O.S.', 'Voulez-vous', 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme' and 'Chiquitita'.

Haha, Marty McFly for the win!

Me and Abba have a bit of a rollercoaster relationship. At the start of this whole Abba revival thing going on now I really liked them. Now they've been overplayed and the movie is everywhere. Don't get me wrong, both the music and the movie are fantastic and good fun, but I am just getting sick of it all now...

Even though I don't think that is actually him playing their.  Not because it is out of sink though

Aha! It's is NOT him playing there, but they did teach him each and every finger position so he could ghost it convincingly. bow before my utterly superfluous BTTF knowledge.

And in other news, woah Karl Jenkyns is good. The pure madness of 'The Armed Man' which I got to sing in with the Choral is at one and the same time gloriously beautiful and incredibly emotional. There were bits that I found very difficult to deal with (it's a mass for peace, and so therefore obviously has bits about the Hiroshima bomb and some ancient text about people breathing their last as living torches and stuff and it's all very dark and horrible in places.) and if I never have to see a top A again in my life it'll be too soon...none in this particular example from it (although singing that higher 'Gloria' bit at the right dynamic is a bit of a challenge) and we didn't have the pictures behind us, but you get the idea. I love the little string bits. Plus Karl Jenkyns has a stupendous moustache.

But then I find out that we're singing his 'Adiemus' in 'normal' choir. I defy you not to get this stuck in your head! And no, it's not in any language. It's a kind of weird fusion of latin and Dorian mode nonsense language apparently. Thoroughly gorgeous!

Wait wait wait. You're in the Choral Society?? The one that performed at Eden Court this Saturday?Huh I heard you!!!

You see, HSWB and HSBB were playing in the theatre next door, and once the Wind Band had finished playing we just hung around for a bit. Me and a couple of friends snuck up to the Empire theatre door and listened for a bit. Talk about epic! It was absolutely fantastic, the small amount I heard. I want to buy The Armed Man now (and the Requiem by John Rutter as well). Sanctus especially is very haunting in the middle of the night when trying to sleep. xD

Adiemus is great as well, I love that song.

In other music news, I've not listened to the band before, so I've no idea what they're like in general, but Code Name Raven by House of Heroes is a fantastic song (and not available on iTunes!! D:)
