What I’m Reading
March was a very, very busy reading month. Mostly just comics, but one or two books as well, and some beta reading.
I’ve been having regular “tea and comics” evenings and weekends to catch up on my comic to-be-read pile. It’s a lot of fun!
What I’m Writing
Ladies! Dudes! And other awesome people! I had a story accepted into an anthology with a bunch of awesome writers. This is super exciting. :D
Aside from that, CampNaNo is now in session (my profile!) so I’m buckling down to hit my wordcount for that.
The goal was 20k but Kate’s been spurring me on to try and hit 35k! Eeep!
What Inspires Me
I’m listening to Welcome to Night Vale, my favorite surreal horror podcast, again. It’s good to be back! I can’t wait to catch up with it all.
If you’ve never listened to Night Vale, Episode 1 is here. It’s not jump-out-of-your-seats horror, it’s a quieter, smart and blackly humored story.
I’ve just finished re-listening to Episode 20, “Poetry Week”, and it’s a lot of fun. Audio is here, and a transcript is here (but Night Vale loses a lot of atmosphere when written down).
What Else I’ve Been Up To
I’m on Week 6 of my 8 week running training, but I’ve had to pause things for a bit to recovery from some stubborn muscle aches. I’m looking forward to getting back on track soon.
Driving lessons are progressing steadily as well, and I’m now tackling things like main roads, high speeds, roundabouts and traffic lights. It’s fun! And sometimes a little scary too, but that’s just the learning curve.
I hope your week has been going well and continues going awesomely. I’m looking forward to hopping around everyone’s blogs today!

I’ve already congratulated you on having your work accepted in an anthology, but I’ll do it again anyway: CONGRATULATIONS, Emma!! :)
I have to say, British drivers are, in my experience, very patient and forgiving. While I hail from the UK, I learned to drive in the US. In the US, especially in the South, roundabouts are a bit of a novelty. On the few occasions I’ve returned to the UK and applied my driving skills to British roads, I’ve managed to do okay… except with roundabouts. I never remember the order of precedence (who goes first), and even if I did remember, I forgot in that deer-in-headlights moment when you’re at the front of the line at a huge roundabout in Cardiff and your mind goes blank… Anyway. Needless to say, the drivers around me gave me room to make mistakes, didn’t beep their horns at me, and let me find my way to the other side. At least I was going the right way around… :)
Have a wonderful week!

Congratulations on the anthology acceptance! :D
I’m terrrifed at the idea of learning to drive around where I live… Well, the idea of driving at all is pretty scary (based on one bad experience on a quad bike and how quickly I crash into walls on video games!). Also, I’m not an aggressive person at all, and city drivers in Birmingham are completely insane. o_O But it’s a fear I’ll probably have to conquer one day!
I’ll check out that Night Vale link. :)
Have a great week!

Tea and comics, how fun! I have never read comics in any regular format, that I can recall. Sounds like I may be totally missing out. Maybe I should get some… bet my son would enjoy reading them with me. Thanks for this post, and good luck on that 35k goal. Sounds daunting but I bet you can do it. I’m going to check out this Camp NaNo…

I like the idea of setting aside time each evening for reading and tea. I might have to make a point of doing that myself. Congrats on the anthology piece! That’s pretty great. :-) As for driving, you are doing so much better than I am on that front. I’m waiting for the snow to melt and then I’m hoping to get out and get driving. I’m not looking forward to it lol. Have a great week, Emma!

Congratulations! I’d like to do the nightly tea and reading, too. And that cover for Adaptation is really cool.

Welcome to Night Vale sounds very interesting. I absolutely love horror so this is a must for me. And CONGRATULATIONS on getting a story accepted! That’s soooo amazing. Good luck with CampNaNo. With A to Z Challenge, I didn’t have time to do it this month. Next CampNaNo will be great :)

Night Vale sounds amazing, I think I’ll subscribe to it. And congrats again on getting your story published Emma!!! Oh, and good luck with Camp NaNo, I’m sure you can do it! I should probably get back into writing things, and this sounds like a good opportunity. ill probably try something during the summer holidays, and otherwise maybe next Camp? Either way, good luck!
