What I’m Reading
Reading through Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire’s FEED just now. It’s SO GOOD! And I just hit the most heartbreaking twist… in a row of heartbreaking twists. It’s a really great read, it keeps me hooked even though I have a strong hatred of politics.
What I’m Writing
This week’s not been a great one for productivity, what with the Christmas party season in full swing, but I had a lot of fun last week. I may ‘cheated’ on my edit with a middle grade first draft that turned out to be REALLY REALLY fun and I’m super excited to work on it ahhh. THERE ARE DRAGONS. IT’S A REALLY FUN STORY.
But I pulled myself away from it after a couple of thousand words and got back to the BROKEN THINGS edit. With the motivation of a shiny new draft at the end of the edit, I *finally* found my editing stride.
100 pages done this week. Almost at the 50% mark for this manuscript. That’s some of the fastest editing work I’ve done all year, haha. It’s taken a loooottt of faffing around, but I’m getting there.
What Works For Me
One of the biggest helps for me this year has been the support of other writers — that’s your, What’s Up Wednesday crew, as well as my buddies on Twitter and in the Anxious Appliances writing group.
So, thank you for all the encouragement. Thank you for pushing me to work harder. Love you, What’s Up Wednesday regulars. <3
What Else I’ve Been Up To
It’s the holiday season so I’ve been hanging out with friends before the end of the year, spending my last few days in the office, generally getting ready for a relaxed holiday fortnight.
I’m still doing my driving lessons, though there’s another large gap ahead while my instructor goes on holiday. Had my first experience in aquaplaning last week. That was terrifying. I never knew puddles could be so scary.
I also started going to a gym — that’s been fun!I’m starting hilariously small, but progress is happening quickly.

It’s a really nice little gym for introverted types, with lots of quiet hours where I’m literally the only person in the building.
And of course, I’m watching a ton of my latest TV obsession — the amazing, diverse, and joyfully geeky show Person of Interest.
That’s it from me for now. I’ll still be hanging around the lbog and on Twitter over the holidays, but What’s Up Wednesday won’t be going on then. So if I don’t see you before then, readers: happy holidays, and have a fantastic 2015!

Merry Christmas!!! :D
NOW STOP HAVING FUN AND GET TO WORK! EDIT! EEEEEDIIIIT!
;)

See you in 2015!!!
Thank you! I’m trying! :D *works harder*
Colony is amazing, and you’re amazing too. :D See you in 2015!
FEED looks fantastic, I’ve added it to the never-ending TBR list!
Great job on the editing progress! And a middle-grade book with dragons sounds awesome. Enjoy the holidays! :)
That’s some seriously awesome editing you got done this week! Cheering you on as you edit the next 100 pages. :-) I’m super grateful for all of our WUW friends. It’s great accountability and encouragement, isn’t it? Hope you have a very Merry Christmas, Emma! :D
So cool that you managed to start a MG novel in the midst of editing. Certainly a good incentive to spur you on to the end. I hope things continue to go well for you over the holidays.
Have an awesome Christmas, Emma! :)
Great job on your speed-editing! Finish that stuff and reward yourself with extra eggnog!
Ooo dragons? Me likes already!
So impressed with your achievements! You should be proud! Keep it up, chick and Merry Christmas. =D
