Found this image on Tumblr, by the talented Maariaamph, and thought it was worth sharing because it applies to writers as well!
Writer friends, how often does this happen to you? I know I always get hit by it after midnight, especially if I’m wanting to go to bed for work. Inspiration is an inconvenient thing.

Yes! If I’m awake enough I’ll make a note. But when I’m not, I’ll tell myself to remember it for the next day, only to wake up with the memory of needing to remember something but having no idea what that something is.
E.Maree says
Oooh, the I’ll-remember-it-when-I-wake-up is the worst trick the brain can play. I fall for it all the time, unless I remember to jot the idea down in my phone or notebook.

Story of my life! There have been a few times when I actually got up and wrote, and I have to say, those were some pretty good passages. And I’ve heard a quote from someone who basically says the writing you get up from bed to do will always be awesome (obviously, I’m paraphrasing).
On the nights when I’m too tired to get up, I usually text myself a quick mental note of what I was thinking, or the line or something like that (I think of really good first lines right before sleep. Weird? Probably.).
You visited my blog last month and I’m finally getting around to visiting yours because I’m a slacker! So thanks for visiting and I’ll keep coming to yours because I like it. ^_^
