View from The Golf View

Here’s the view from The Golf View hotel, a lovely hotel next to the beach in Nairn.

We stayed here for Valentines night, in a swanky suite with a (broken) jacuzzi, a couch, Freeview TV, and a four-poster bed wide enough to fit a whole family.

It was a good night, though it was soured slightly by poor PR work from The Golf View, who tactfully ignored an e-mail discussing a few issues we had with the room. A month later and we’re still waiting for some kind of response.

On the bright side, breakfast the next morning was AMAZING. The continental breakfast buffet is reasonably varied, and the full Scottish breakfast they offer is gorgeous.

Before we went to the hotel, we watched Disney’s “Tangled” at Eden Court’s Empire Theatre, a much nicer little theatre than Vue. I wish they’d stuck with their plans to have this movie in a painterly style, but it was still fun to watch with some an impressively manipulative villain.

All of this was a surprise! I don’t handle surprises well and spent far too much time in the hotel being a bit off about being in a strange place with a dying phone and no laptop – but that’s just me. It was still a great night, and I learnt a surprising amount about Steven Seagal thanks to late-night TV.
