It’s been quiet around here, sorry about that. November was a rough month all round; the winter blues hit me harder than usual, along with some major computer problems, so I lost a lot of time to resting and recharging. Read a lot of books, though, which was fun.
What I’m Writing
My goals have shifted and simplified a lot compared to my last post.
What I’m Reading
I finished THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS, a fantasy novel about angels in post-apocalyptic Paris that I absolutely *adored*.
I also greatly enjoyed SMALL TOWN WITCH, but I’ll let the art sell that particular awesome story.

There’s adorable angry gangster molls and werewolf gumshoes. It’s *so good* #SmallTownWitch https://t.co/bjYNsCb76L pic.twitter.com/T0Ga2lHrFD

I’ve been really struggling to meet my reading goal of 70 books. At the start of November I was at 53 books, and now I’m at 61, so it’s going to be a mad rush to the finish.
Michael F. Stewart’s post on “Why Your Writing Matters” cheered me up a bit in dreary November.
What Else I’ve Been Up To
Still utterly obsessed with Undertale, it’s easily my favourite game this year, and one of my favourite RPGs of all time. I finished it on Perfect Pacifist route recently which was one of the best, most insane gaming experiences I’ve ever had — I know I should go play the Genocide route now, but man, I love those monsters so much I’m hesitant to replay as a more vicious player.

Also, did you lot see the Final Fantasy 7 remake announcement? It looks SO GOOD, I’m thrilled! I got hooked on the FF7 storyline with the Advent Children movie and the PSP spin-off game Crisis Core. Really looking forward to playing the remake and experience the original story for the first time.
On the telly sided of things, I really enjoyed Jessica Jones — enough that I wrote a big blog post about it. I also really enjoyed this year’s season of Doctor Who, and I might write about that sooner rather than later.
I also took the car in for its first ever garage trip, which was a nerve-wracking experience. Our chosen garage is staffed by a lovely team who did fantastic work, though, and we got to walk around beautiful Lossiemouth while it was getting worked on. (It was in there for four hours…. three of which were just waiting for space between all the winter services being done.)
It also snowed for the first time this year, prompting me to rush around buying grit salt and ice grips for my wellies. As pretty as it is, all the ice was a bit unnerving. It looks like it’s going to be a bit of a rough winter, so I hope the nice weather holds on a bit longer.
And one more thing — a festive puppy picture.
Hope you’ve had a great week so far! I’d love to hear what everyone’s been up to as we head rapidly towards year end.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, cute doggy! <3
Stay warm and safe this year!
I'm *almost* jealous that you'll get to play Final Fantasy VII for the first time as the remake. You are in for such a treat.
Haha, I’m so glad you said that — I get embarrassed admitting I haven’t played such a classic. I definitely feel like I’ve been missing out, and everything I’ve heard about FF7 makes it sound like a story I would absolutely adore. Can’t waiiiit to play it.
Still can’t believe you didn’t tell me how cheap undertale was or you would have had it earlier.
Undertale sounds like such a cool fascinating game. I’d never heard of it until you mentioned it, but now I want to play it, and I think my wife would really enjoy it as well.
I know that it’s all about perspective, but I love snow, and I’m so jealous of the places that get snow so early. It was 70 degrees today where I live. I wore a t-shirt.
Admittedly, this time last year it was insanely cold, but still. I loves me some snow. :)
Also: 61 books??? I’m going to be struggling to hit 25, but I insist that I will do it! (By cheating and reading shorter works, probably, but I will hit my goal for ONCE!)
This bugged me all night: 70*F is roughly 21*C. Sorry. Typical American center-of-the-worldness.
Hey, no need to worry about that — I’m a pro at using Google to convert now. :D And I really appreciate you stopping by to comment.
Jesus though, 21 degrees? I’d be MELTING. As soon as it hits 12 degrees around here we’re out looking to get a tan, haha.
I definitely know what you mean about wanting the snow. I *love* it, but I hate the ice, and this early snow melted and froze into some particularly nasty ice.
And yessss play Undertale! It would be such a cute couples game, because there’s so many different ways to play it. It’s a very different game for each player.
