What’s Up Wednesday: In Which Everything Is Awesome

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what’s up. It was created by created by Jaime and Erin. Want to join the party? Go right ahead, and remember to leave a link to your What’s Up Wednesday post in the widget on Jaime´s blog.

And if you haven’t heard this month’s number one earworm, EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!, please go fix that immediately and listen while you read on:

What I’m Reading

The Aberdeen launch party for  Laura Lam’s SHADOWPLAY was AMAZING. And I finished reading Shadowplay itself, which is also AMAZING. Laura blogged about the launch in detail over here.

Everything is awesome. Especially SHADOWPLAY.

Now I’m trying to get back into reading THE 5TH WAVE but I’m still having trouble getting into it. I really need to dedicate a good chunk of time to just focus on this one.

What I’m Writing

Editing is still rolling along slow ‘n steady. I’ve started swapping between two WIPs to keep myself from getting bored. Not sure how long this will last.

Miss Cole had a great post last week on Moving On from THE ONE, and her advice (“don’t force it […] write whatever you want to write most”) stuck with me.

I’d stopped writing what was fun and started forcing myself to write what felt like it had the best chance, and what felt most commercial. No longer! Now I’m just writing whatever I feel like writing, and editing is slowly becoming fun again. Well, as fun as editing every gets

What Inspires Me

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll be aware that, after nearly killing myself by joining the work jogging club, I’ve been getting back into the Zombies Run! 5k Training.

As of today, I’m finished WEEK 1. And I’m maybe, just maybe, getting the hang of this jogging thing. Let’s see if I can keep it up.!

What Else I’ve Been Up To

Aside from getting obsessively into the geekier sides of fitness (DATA ANALYSIS. APPS. GADGETS!) I haven’t been up to much, but other half Dave (now on Twitter!) took some adorable photos of Mac when he was out on a sunny afternoon’s walk.

You guys really enjoyed the Mac pictures last week, so have some more to finish off this post.

  1. I still need to read Pantomime! The launch sounds fabulous.

Writing what YOU want to is the best thing to do! I’ve kind of accepted that everything I write is totally non-commercial, but that’s fine as long as it’s what I want to write!

Best of luck with the jogging!

    1. I definitely recommend Zombies, Run! then. :) They have the Zombies, Run! 2 app for experienced runners. I’m on the Zombies Run! 5k Training just now which is aimed at newbies, but they’re both great apps.

  2. I haven’t seen the Lego movie yet… but then I was probably the last person on the planet to see episode three of the new series of Sherlock! Life gets busy, and trips to the movies are expensive for eight. Perhaps when it comes out on Blu-Ray… then I’ll have that song in my head when everyone else has moved on to the next thing… :)

I really enjoyed THE 5th WAVE, so much I have the second in the series on pre-order. But to each their own–that’s why we don’t all write paranormal, or contemporary. :)

    Have a great week, Emma!

  3. THERE IS SO MUCH SUN I DON’T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT!!!!!!

Thanks for the shout out :D Hee, write what you want and damn well enjoy every second.

    NOOOOO! NOT THE SOOOOOONG! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

    …wow, that’s a lotta capslock…

    Have an awesome week!

(’cause everything is cool when you’re part of a team)

  4. I like the advice to write what you want to write. In my experience, nothing good comes from forcing yourself to write something you’re not in the mood to write. The revisions of that writing would be terrible! Here’s hoping you have a productive week writing what you want to write!

  5. I know exactly what you mean about forcing something! I did that as well and it backfired. Now I’m writing what makes me happy and excited, which in turn will show in my work. I haven’t heard of Shadowplay, will have to check it out! Congrats on signing up for the 5k! That’s on my long list of some day goals.
