Today’s update is a CampNaNoWriMo edition because this challenge is entirely consuming my life.
What I’m Reading
No books read this week! I did get a bit of beta reading done but I’m still behind on that. I’m going to try and squeeze in more beta reading time in-between Camp NaNo, but it looks like it’s going to be a hectic month.
What I’m Writing
I’m 6.5k done with a 35k goal, so things are ticking along nicely. I’ve got a children’s fantasy WIP in the first draft stage and BROKEN THINGS in a second revision (30% done!), and both are motoring along nicely.
My CampNaNo goal is 35k which is… probably an over-optimistic goal for me most months. I should be able to manage it this month but I won’t be trying 35k-a-month again in a hurry. Especially not when I’m editing a project as well as drafting one.
What Inspires Me
All the other #CampNaNo writers (and those who aren’t taking part but are just writing away as normal) are keeping me motivated. Rock on, you guys.
What Else I’ve Been Up To
I came down with the lurgy on Monday night so I’m just recover from that. Again. Sickness has basically been a second job for me lately.
Aside from that, I’ve just been continuing with the driving lessons, doing a bit of baking, and sharing some awesome meals with Dave.
And with that spree of food photos, I wish you well for the rest of the week. I hope it’s a productive one for us all!

Writing a draft and editing at the same time is tricky to balance! I can’t usually do both at once because editing drains all my concentration pretty quickly. Camp NaNo is a great motivator, though! :D
Also, those pictures… *drool*
Hope you have a great week!

Editing is SO draining. Regrding swapping out, I’ll usually power along with one (draft or edit) for a few days and then switch to the other when I get worn out. Swapping probably makes it sound more fast-paced than it actually is. I can’t really do both in one day, like I see other authors do, that burns me out.
You too!

I’ve been sick lately too and it sucks! Not only do I not have energy to do much of anything, but writing itself is a task. Given that, your 6.5k is quite impressive! Keep you the great work and good luck with your CampNaNo goal!
EMaree says
Hope you feel better soon Prerna! :)

All of that food is making me so hungry! (Haven’t eaten breakfast yet, so…) Sounds like you’re making awesome progress with your Camp NaNoWriMo goals, especially considering you’re drafting and revising. Very impressive, Emma! Good luck meeting your goal this month. You can totally do it!
EMaree says
Thank you Jaime!

Go, Emma, go, go, go! Write and drive… but not at the same time ;)
Mmmm, that food looks amazing. Yum, yum, yum! :D
EMaree says
Nope, definitely no writing and driving. I can barely concentrate on driving on its own!
Laurel Holman says
You’ve got my stomach growling! Yummmmy. Looks like you’re being creative in all sorts of ways. Yay! Have a great week.
EMaree says
You too, Laurel!

All those breakfast foods are making me hungry!
Congrats on all the progress this week!

Oh. My. Yummy food! That is drool-worthy. Especially that scrumptious looking pancake stack at the end.
Best of luck with editing and writing!
Colin says
Juggling writing and editing for Camp NaNo is a bit ambitious, but I’m sure you’re up to the challenge, Emma. All the best with that!
I’d read that Scottish pancakes are closer in style to American pancakes than to English pancakes–it seems that’s true. That pancake stack with strawberries looks wonderful! :D
EMaree says
Big, fluffy pancakes are definitely the best. :D

Those food photos look fantastic – especially the last one. Yum! Congrats on the progress made so far on Camp Nano. 6.5k is great! Have a wonderful weekend.
